What qualifications do your staff have? ↓

All staff are Enhanced DBS-checked. The Site Leader has a Forest School L3 qualification and many years’ of experience working with children in the outdoors. Leaders also have a specialist outdoor First Aid qualification. Please visit our ‘Meet the Team’ page to find out more about our wonderful staff.

Do you have a toilet? ↓

We are fortunate to have communal toilets a short walk from our site. Children are reminded of toilet breaks throughout the day and are encouraged to speak to a staff member if they need to go.

fHow do they wash their hands? ↓

The communal toilet has a sink, soap and hand dryer and children are reminded to wash their hands after using the toilet. In the woods, children are reminded to wash and sanitise their hands before snack and lunchtime with soap and water using our camp-made tippy tap.

What is the adult-to-child ratio? ↓

We always operate with a minimum of two staff and an adult-child ratio of 1:6.

Do you take children with additional learning or behavioural needs? ↓

If your child with special needs would like to attend, please call us or email us before booking. We would need to talk to you about your child’s needs to see how we can help. We believe that our camp can have tremendous benefits for children with SEND or SEMH needs, so if we can accept your child, we will.

Do you take childcare vouchers? ↓

No, sorry we do not accept childcare vouchers.

What happens if I need to cancel the booking? ↓

If you cancel your booking more than 14 days before you’re due to come to use, then we can either refund your money (minus the booking fee of 5%) or offer you credit for another day. We can also give you credit for another day for any cancellations made with 5 or more days’ notice.

Do you do birthday parties? ↓

Yes! We run parties throughout the year. We can tailor the party to suit your child’s interest – please email us for more details.

What age children do you take? ↓

We take children aged 5 – 12 for the full day (9am – 3pm) and children aged 4 are welcome to attend for a half day (9am – 1pm). Our upper age limit is not fixed, so if you have a 13-year-old who really wants to come, they are welcome to.

What happens when it rains? ↓

There’s no such thing as bad weather – only the wrong clothes! On rainy days please be sure to pack extra layers, suitable footwear and waterproofs. We have tarpaulin to set up across the site, so there is always a space to stay dry – but we also strongly encourage dancing in the rain and jumping in muddy puddles!

Forest Tales will not run if the Met Office weather forecast predicts heavy snow or shows a predicted wind speed of 42mph or more for any part of the day. If this happens, we will make a decision to cancel by 6pm on the previous day and will inform parents/guardians by email. If we cancel due to adverse weather, you will be offered another day instead. If the weather becomes hazardous during the day (e.g., high winds, lightning, heavy snow) then we will contact you via the emergency number given at booking and ask you to collect your child. We do not offer refunds or additional days for cancellations due to weather conditions that develop during the day.

Where do we drop off/ pick up? ↓

Please see our ‘camp details’ page. If you are having trouble finding us, please give us a call.

Do you do early drop off/ late pick-up? ↓

We cannot accept any children earlier than 9am due to our insurance, nor can we keep them onsite past 3pm. If you are running late for pick-up, please give us a call. While waiting to be collected, a member of staff will look after your child.

What happens if we are late in the morning? ↓

Never worry about being late to drop off – we know how hectic mornings can be! There is always a member of staff at our site, so your child will not miss out by being late.
